Get to Know Gremlin: Shelby Cutright, Head of Sales Development

Posted by Doug Wilber on December 11, 2018

At Gremlin Social, we think it’s important for our clients, partners, and other stakeholders to be able to put a face to a name. That’s why we like to do monthly employee spotlights! This month, we sat down with Shelby Cutright, who is the head of our sales development department, to ask her a few questions about her experience at Gremlin.

What do you do at Gremlin?

Here at Gremlin Social, my core responsibilities revolve around sales. I build and refine our sales processes and methodologies, analyze trends, identify improvement areas, make contact with potential customers, and maintain the tools that enable our sales team to succeed. I also take on additional projects to help other branches of the company however I can.

How did you come to join the Gremlin Social team?

The last company I worked for was also a startup in downtown St. Louis. After that company downsized, the CEO put me into contact with Gremlin Social, which just happened to be in the market for an experienced outbound sales representative with an inclination for operations. What are the odds! I did consider a few other positions before signing on with Gremlin, but I didn’t find another company that I felt totally at home with that could offer such great growth opportunities.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Gremlin?

The best part of working at Gremlin Social is the agile nature of the work I do — hands down. In school, I was always involved in and held office with several clubs and after-school activities. As an adult, my affinity for remaining engaged has translated into a love of projects. Straddling the line between sales and operations means I’m able to line up goals and tackle them quickly, shifting focus between the two departments during the day. No humdrum 9-to-5 here!

How would your co-workers describe you?

My co-workers would say that I’m upbeat, practical, approachable, sometimes candid, and always busy!

What’s your favorite memory you’ve made during your time at the company?

One of the best memories I have made since working for Gremlin was when my son met the team. This company really is like a small family, and showing off my little guy was so much fun. He was very well-received as a new member of the team and even got his own Gremlin onesie!
