At Gremlin Social, we think it's important for our clients, partners, and other stakeholders to be able to put a face to a name. That's why we like to do monthly employee spotlights! This month, we sat down with Director of Product Strategy and Operations John Krupela to ask him a few questions about his experience at Gremlin.
What do you do at Gremlin Social?
I do a lot for Gremlin, but my core competencies focus on directing the development of products and ensuring our teams have the resources they need to execute on their responsibilities and deliverables. This has me working across internal boundaries from development to sales and everything in between. It also allows me to pick up slack when needed and deliver on projects that don’t have hard definitions or clear areas of focus.
How did you come to join the Gremlin Social team?
I was introduced to Gremlin Social through a connection at Cultivation Capital, a VC firm based in St. Louis, to help develop the first version of our Social Media Assessment. After working with the team for a couple months, it felt like a good fit, so I accepted a full-time offer.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Gremlin Social?
Gremlin does an excellent job of empowering its employees to have meaningful impact. At large corporations, it’s rare to step into an integral role from the get-go, but I’ve done just that at Gremlin. From the initial Social Media Assessment project to my current day-to-day (which is the furthest thing from a typical day-to-day), I’ve been enabled and encouraged to help in numerous ways. Having that variety keeps me engaged, helps me stay fresh, and allows me to call on both a novice mind and seasoned expertise.
How would your co-workers describe you?
Enthusiastic, reliable, quick learner, jack-of-all-trades
What’s your favorite memory you’ve made during your time at the company?
One highlight would be developing and co-presenting a webinar with the American Bankers Association. I typically have a more behind-the-scenes role, but it was a joy to take my work and present it to an external audience while getting positive feedback from outside the company.
